Nuku District School has received a significant boost to its facilities thanks to a community project by Bank South Pacific (BSP).
The project, conducted by BSP’s Nausori branch, involved the construction of roofing over the walkway areas from the classrooms to the washrooms and school canteen, repairs and maintenance of the washrooms and upgrade of the drinking station, including the installation of 20 taps.
BSP relieving country head Maikash Ali said, “Our corporate value of community and Vanua is the driving force behind these projects, and we actively demonstrate our commitment to the community through our many branch community projects and sponsorships.
“Giving back to Fiji is part of who we are, and we are proud to be a part of a team that cares so deeply about the communities we serve. These collaborative efforts demonstrate who we are as a bank and as a team,” said Mr Ali.
The project was implemented in consultation with the school and the Ministry of Education, and was completed through a collaborative effort between the bank, the school and the community, with the guidance of a specialised contractor and foreman who assisted the staff in carrying out the construction project.
The project was completed over three Saturdays with no less than 10 staff members and supporters working on each of the days.
“Our branch community projects continue to be driven by our corporate values and proudly supported by our staff volunteers who share our commitment to giving back to Fiji,” Mr Ali added.
He reaffirmed BSP’s commitment to upholding its corporate social responsibility through the branch community project program, sponsorship and community partnerships that nurture positive change to improve the quality of life for communities.
